Some Inspiration

Just before Thanksgiving well, probably more like the beginning of November when I'm snugglin in and preparing for the holiday season, I pull out two of my very favorite sources for  inspiration they get the juices flowin, 'cause sometimes I just feel all dried up!

What helps to inspire you?

Decorating the Tree

While it is the Lord who decorates the branches of the trees
outside the window with snow, thank you Lord!

It is the *hubs* who decorates our 9 1/2 ft. tree
every year.  Thank you dear hubs!   He really is better at it than I am,
(Can you hear the Christmas music in the background?)

patiently most of the time ;o)  affixing our *hundreds* yes, I said hundreds  of ornaments and sparkly things.  Oops...make that hundreds minus one.  It's okay hon, it was an accident.  Love ya anyway!  Oh, and don't worry, he'll straighten the crooked tree topper. Right dear?

Snow Woes

I think this might be one of those winters where *the girls* look back and say amongst themselves,  "why, we remember all that snow we had over  Thanksgiving weekend, from then on we were cooped up the whole blasted winter!

I think they are already looking forward to spring.  I'll break it to them gently.

          Blessings to you! Mumsie xoxo

Have a Blessed Thanksgiving!

                            Give Thanks to the LORD, for He is good;
His love endures forever.  Psalm 107:1

Let them give thanks to the Lord for His
                              unfailing love.   Psalm 107:8

I will give You thanks, for you answered me; You
have become my salvation  Psalm 118:21

He's the Best!

My hubs is the best! I'm not biased at all ~
After several years worth of a hiatus probably at least 5 or more if the truth be told ~ I am once again the hostess of our family Thankgiving feast. I just know I'm gonna eat too much ~  It will be all the traditional dishes that I will be serving. They never let me try anything new ~  *sigh*

The last time we hosted the dinner
we lived in a cottage twice the size of our present abode It also had a big mortgage.  so my hubs ...who truly is the best...saw the need for a table that sat a few more than two.

So with his own two hands and a drill, some screws and scrap wood

made me a wonderful Thanksgiving harvest table. Needs must be creative . See...didn't I tell you he's the best!  But there is one thing that I promised him...no peeking under the tablecloth! Necessity is the mother of invention..or something like that!

Company's Coming!

Welcome R&L! OK, they're not really company...but  longtime friends and well loved ~ who became a part of our lives back when both hubbies were in Bible college and our girls were little...and littler!

When they arrive...they will be shown to their overnite accommodations...our little rosy cozy guest cottage.

( I'm pretty sure the sheets are crisp and clean ~ just kidding Lynnie!)

Once they are settled in we will all gather at Rosehaven and have a wonderful time ~ I hope they look back and think it was wonderful!  of visiting and catching up on the happenings of the past few months. Perhaps Lynnie will bring some pix of their recent trip to Whitefish, MT....a trip we were supposed to join them on..but hubbie was sick!  The two of us will sit here ~ there WILL be a cozy cracklin fire and a pot or two of tea!

and chat about our favorite things ~  But mostly we will probably talk about our most common kindred interest  ~ *our girls* ~ just love our chooks and roos!

The hubbies will be doing their own type of visiting. They will talk about ministry for a while...then get down to the serious
stuff....watching old movies ~ here~ in the living room. C"mon
it is their day off after all ...they need a little distraction from the busyness of ministry....and guys don't visit by chatting!)

Late in the afternoon ~ fourish, I think we will sup on a well-simmered pot of hamburger soup chock full of garden veggies and grass-fed beef and fresh baked french bread

sitting around the table giving thanks for our blessings of food, friends and fellowship ~ we have so much to be thankful for!

I think all in all it's going to be a lovely day for company ~ and time well spent...don't you?

Blessings, Mumsie

It's so nice and bright ~ full of chippy peely romance
Now don't get me wrong...cause I'm partial to this one  too!

a mixture of painted and piney wood

But don't ya think this should be painted a nice cottage white ~ hmmm? This is where I need your help...cast your vote and I shall use them to hopefully  convince hubby to paint it for me...and I'll do the rest..the sanding and chippin ~ don't let me down, I'm counting on y'all! ~

A Reminder of Hope

"So often we do not pray in certain situations because from our standpoint the outlook is hopeless. But nothing is impossible with God. Nothing is so entangled that it cannot be remedied, no human relationship is too strained for God to ...bring about reconciliation and understanding, no habit so deep-rooted that cannot be healed, no mind is so dull that it cannot be made brilliant. Whatever the need, if we trust God, He will supply it. If anything is causing worry or anxiety, let us stop rehearsing the difficulty and trust God for healing, love, and power. - Review and Herald, October 7, 1865

This quote (notice the date)  was shared  by a FB friend (thanks,  Lisa A.) a few days ago and I have found myself musing over it ever since. It spoke directly to my heart...to a circumstance that seems..well..hopeless.  This reminded me....it isn't.  For this I am so thankful!

Jesus  is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8

Idaho Bound

Today we made the trip to Idaho to visit with hubby's aunt and uncle...some of our very favorite people.  We enjoy our  time spent with them , even though it isn't as often as they would like, or as long of time as we wish.  Uncle S is in his 80's now...with Aunt G a few years younger.  Aunt G is the youngest sister of hubby's dad, and  deals everyday with the debilitating condition of advancing Parkinsons.  Uncle S deals with diabetes and is Aunt G's caregiver.  They look forward to our visits with such excitement, and their hospitalty is such a blessing to us and makes us feel so special.  They are true believers, coming to the Lord  in their late 50's.  We talk about the Lord, John Hagee, our kids and g-kids, the news and politics....and we love it!  They fix us lunch....salad and pizza and dessert,  today...Sara Lee cheesecake.  Lots of coffee...we buzz all the way home.    The trip takes us about 90 minutes each way...hubby drove over and I drove home. This morn while he drove I quick knitted a couple scrubbies to give Aunt G.  Good thing...she said she already wore out the last one I gave her.  I look forward to our next visit with them, Lord willing and weather permitting.  The drive home was uneventful....but all that caffeine makes it much harder for hubby to resist "helping" me drive!  ;o)  Blessings, Mumsie

Musing the Mundane

Busy day today. Errands, bill paying, grocery shopping. Hauling straw for bedding for *Chook Cottage*.  Emptying out Ramblin Rose ( our 1966 Kodiak traveling *cottage*)  and tarping her for winter. Mowed the grass one last time.  Can't remember the last time we were still cutting the grass in November...but it was quite lovely today and when opportunity knocks...well, answer the door!

In the midst of all this busyness...I was aware that as I was dealing with the mundane, others who I know,  who I care about, old friends and some new ones...some near, some far, were not dealing with the mundane.  They were dealing with the loss of a precious grandchild,  the possiblity of  unfavorable results of a medical test of their spouse,  launching a new business..their very livelihood at stake.  Watching their children go through their own times of testing.  Sick children, and ones who have lost their way.  In all this, the one constant has been their FAITH.  Trusting in a God who is totally trustworthy.  The God of the mundane and the God of miracles.  The God who comforts and the God who restores.  Thank you, because, God you are my God and I will ever praise you!
